Hi Keith--
FILES= is also used when OS/2 programs (or data) are in FAT
partitions. If FILES= is large enough, all of the allocation tables
supporting all open files in FAT partitions will be carried in memory
instead of on disk, so access will be much faster. An IBM
recommendation I have seen warns to never set FILES= to less than 60 if
you have any FAT partitions.
