Hi Bob,
I don't know why, but I am feeling a little like a young school-kid who is about
to be lambasted in-front of the whole class, as he cautiously approaches his
teacher to tell him that he obviously doesn't have a
grasp of the fundermentals.
If the polar icecaps melting caused more water to flow to the equator, and the
spin of the Earth had slowed, wouldn't you need to ADD extra seconds to make up
for the time loss ?
Cheers, Brenton

Hi all,
another interesting proof that the Earth is heating up.
The Earth's spin and rotation around the Sun is not exact. We add a
leap-day every four years and another every four centuries, and for
the last few years the big atomic clock hadadded a leap-second on
New Year's Day to keep the year around the Sun in time with the
rotation of the Earth.
This year the extra second wasn't necessary.
The polar icecaps are melting, more water flows to the equator, and
like a spinning ice-skater pushing his arms out, the spin of the Earth
has slowed...
Regards,
Bob
