You have to try to use it as your main machine to develop an honest opinion
on it. So far it's leaving a bad taste in my mouth but I've got a ways to
go yet.

What I find really disturbing is the number of programs I use that simply
aren't compatible with Vista. Nero quick start doesn't work but the burning
rom does, All the thinkpad stuff generates compatibility warnings, ATI
utilities fail, Torrent and emule are severely handicapped, my networking
scanners are severely handicapped, lose or block internet connections to MS
and things start to fail.

And... the new spider solitare sucks compared to the W2K version, they
added all this cutesy animation and highlighting and it's completely
distracting from the game.

On the plus side, I do like the new task manager and I can enable and
disable network connections without generating a bsod. And gadgets are
cool, I know it's silly but I really like gadgets because I can set them to
20% visibility and they highlight when I point at them, that's a really
nice feature, if they would just fix the flashing when I do other things..
