well, tbutil (in tbav) can back up the mbr, bootsector, and cmos...
tbutil will also restore them when given the proper command line...
there's also fixmbr in the fixutils package by padgett peterson... it
stores your mbr in an exe file that writes your mbr back when
executed...
i don't think any of them save the entire first track though... i don't
think i've run into any that do, that's why i'm in the midst of making
one that does... every once in a while i put in some work on it, when
the spirit moves me...
