Why would he want to do that (unless he's trying to save money and
doesn't mind a used copy) when he could order it from a number of mail
order shops? I know that Provantage carries it.

AFAIR, the only "incompatibilities" between QB 4.5 and PDS 7.x is that
PDS adds a number of new commands, and those commands may conflict with
variables of the same name (for example DIR$ is a popular variable name,
yet PDS adds a DIR$ function not found in QB). Other than that, the
only problems one is likely to run into involve getting string segments
and such (mostly when using far strings, as I recall), but anyone doing
that is not going to have much of a problem making the necessary
changes. :)
