You paid for Hotmail Plus or other premium service. Access via DAV =
is one feature. The access in Outlook is not beta. The access in OE I =
believe has always been. Windows Live Mail Desktop uses a different = HTTP
based protocol, one I believe is related to the AirSync protocol = supported by
Exchange for mobile devices.

MSN Hotmail no longer supports Distributed Authoring and Versioning =

connect to Hotmail. Only paid Hotmail accounts will work correctly with =
Outlook Express.

Hotmail DAV access in OE was always a beta feature. It is =
limited to a subset of accounts. I think it always was and was further =
restricted a few years ago. There is also a mechanism to access Hotmail =
accounts in Outlook via the Microsoft Office Outlook Connector. The = latter
is what I use. It too is limited to a subset of accounts. I = think it works
for paid accounts and free accounts linked to a paid one.

WLMD I believe has the same export capabilities as Windows Mail =
which includes export to Outlook.

If you just want to archive messages, with Windows Mail and =
Windows Live Mail Desktop you can just archive the EML and NWS files. = One of
the changes from OE is to persist the messages as individual = files instead of
store the message bodies in a database. I believe this = was easier for
Windows Desktop Search.

      Thanks for link.

So Windows Live Mail Desktop will access Hotmail.
Do you know if it will export to Outlook (or if Outlook can =
import)?
(I mean Microsoft Office Outlook, not Outlook Express.)

I guess "no" because they need ads to pay for the service.

I am in the habit of using Outlook Express to download mail from a =
Hotmail
account. Then I import stuff I want to keep into Office Outlook.

However, the ability for Outlook Express to access Hotmail seems =
to have
disappeared from my home system (it worked before; now I get a
"temporarily moved" error). But it still works on a system at =
work.
      Strange.
