Let's just say that they don't hang up within seconds of connect.  They
maintain the connection, move the files they're interested in, and hangup
by choosing the goodbye choice in the BBS.

One cannot use the Maestro SE 9600 then to move data at 9600.  One can
however, use the USR in the manner it is intended and documented.

They don't give ONE init string, they list a handful for various occasions.

Also, under compatibility, the manual makes no reference to "Hayes".
