Common usage has

 Archiac only menas it is no longer i npopular usage. That dosen't
change the Fact that thery are still technicaly Kinescopes. 
Which as I call was the term used in the Patents for the TV picture tube
design.                                                  
Each generation seems to play it loosely with word usage and quite
often makes up different words for some reason. 
I think the French and their Fetish about "Language Purity" is amusing
but maybe on second though they have something afterall.
