BL> Ahh. God bless Amurrica and our masters the CIA.

JT>> Selective Availability was turned off about May 2000? (can't
JT>> remember exactly when) by the president at that time making
JT>> available the full accuracy of the system to civilians.

BL> Either that, or they found a sneakier way to fuck it up.

JB> tight beam satellite transmitters. - they can selectively jam
JB> GPS from orbit.

(grin) They must have another method... they need GPS for
themselves. I remember when they were devloping cruise missiles
(before GPS) they used an onboard computer to navigate, but now Cruise
uses GPS. If they blot it out, scratch the Cruise and remote planes,
and all the clever shit.

My guess is that they switch GPS to encryption. You get clues from
what the USA bans for foreign consumption. DVDs give you a clue, too.

BL> Do you know if there are other GPS systems up and running? The
BL> Japs have launched heaps of satellites lately...

JB> Glonass (Russian), Magellan (European), I've not heard of a
JB> japanese one.

You won't, either. Japan started WWII and no one had a clue until
they hit Pearl Harbor and took Singapore. Fiendishly clever, are
these Chinese...

Regards,
Bob
