Try 'reset'.

This generally sorts out the console display if a program crashes while
running curses or doing something that has been messing about with the
terminal control settings.

If the first attempt doesn't sort things out, often the 2nd or third does
the trick. You could also try adding a Ctrl-C between 'reset's if the
above didn't do much good.
