about "X2/V.90 backlog?":
TR> This is neat. Maybe when I get rich and famous, I'll be able to do
TR> the same thing. Of course, if I can buy and sell everything I want to,
TR> it'll be computer equipment, guns, and amateur radio gear. :-)
WL> You're leaving out a few things -- houses (need a larger
WL> computer room and ham shack, maybe even a basement shooting
WL> range a la Tom Clancy), cellular phones (with cellular modems,
WL> of course) cars (with heavy-duty electrical systems to power
WL> cellular phone, notebook computer and ham rig for days at a
WL> time), little goodies like that.
Oh, and a driver, too; can't see well enough to drive. Or, maybe a
white-cane actuator welded to the front bumper. B-)
TR> As you may have seen from me, I got mine early Sunday morning from the
TR> website. It does a fine job, too.
WL> This bulletin just in! (Literally.) I've received a two-page
WL> e-mail from Mark Goodman at 3COM; my X2 enable key and
WL> instructions for upgrading to V.90. Haven't even had a chance
WL> to perform the upgrade yet -- but I will as soon as I finish
WL> reading this mail packet!
Peachy! I hope it works for you as well as it's working for me!
WL> And, naturally, my ISP is still stuck with K56flex with no
WL> idea just how soon they'll get their upgrades.
Well, MichNet, which maintains a state-wide modem pool, isn't running
any 56K protocol right now, but the new modems it put into Flint a year
or so ago are Rockwell modems. (Maybe I mean "routers". Not sure
what's what. At any rate, whatever it is that answers when I dial the
number...) I'm going to have to send a message to Scott Gerstenberger,
I suppose, and see what they're thinking down there in Ann Arbor...
