I'm using silver xpress under dos, and on my P4 I use silver
xpress under Win XP, but it still operates as a dos program.

 DC> What's " WFWG 3.11 "? (Though I think I can guess!)

 Windows for Work Groups 3.11.

DC> IREX has a DOS version. I'm using the WIN version as I had
DC> my ISP settings to [D]ial [U]p to the [N] set in there.
DC> I've never tried acessing the I-net from only DOS, but I

I used to do it through a dial up service from the local public
library, using Kermit on my end, Dos Lynx on theirs. That was
for the WEB. For telnet and FTP I used a BBS, TOLTBBS. Same
 principle.

DC> I'm getting better at using IREX. But, I'm not an expert

DC> Irex handles the file transfers. It calls up DUN to make

 Ah, I shall research it.

DC> My setup is that I log onto the I-net by a basic script
DC> that makes the connection and only signs me in. I don't go
DC> to the Home Page of my ISP.

DC> Once that's done, IREX takes over and does the file

DC> script. IOW, if you have a means to get DOS to log onto
DC> your ISP, all should be well.

DC> BTW, though IREX looks a bit daunting at first, it's not
DC> that difficult once you get the hang of it. And, there are
DC> enough users of it to get some good support in the IREX
 DC> Echo.

 DC> Hope this helped!

I'll look into the IREX echo.
