Dear Dave:
DH> No,No,No! No offense was taken at all! I just didn't know Kinky was
DH> even known much outside Texas. He (note the Yiddish-type last name)
DH> had a band called "Kinky Friedman and the Texas Jewboys". He did do
DH> a lot of satirical stuff, and yes, he was (is) not considered very
DH> "politically correct", whatever the hell that means. His heyday was
DH> during the Austin-scene progressive country days back in the '70's.
DH> Anyway, I don't see a problem with your using that tagline...I
DH> think it's hilarious, myself!
Glad to hear you're not angry. The usual problem with e-mail: I can't
see the look on your face or hear the tone of your voice. I figured it
was better to apologize in advance in the hope of heading off a flame war.
Kinky is not well-known outside of Texas, I think. Looking back on it, I
think he made a TV appearance a few seasons back on The John Laroquette
Show. John spent a night in jail (I forget why) and shared a cell with
him. I plan to look for his CDs the next time I go to Tokyo.
DH> So, to stay on-topic...Been riding much lately ;>
Well, I just got started again. As I wrote in another message here
recently, The Girlfriend had to work on Saturday so I had time to clean,
oil, tune and prepare the bike for this season. I've been getting up at
06:00 this week and doing a moderately-paced 10K before breakfast. I'll
do that for a week or two to get used to being on the road again and then
I'll expand into longer morning rides (20-25k) and even longer weekend
rides (40k+).
It sure feels good to get some exercise, though.
Tailwinds to you,
Steve
