BL> Sorry to interrupt but i like to know a thing or to about this OCL
BL> (Open class library), and i hope you can help me.
I don't know much about it. I've downloaded v1.20, saw that
there was no documentation, and deleted it. Then I heard some more
about it, downloaded it again, and could figure out how to use the
libraries. So I deleted it once again. However, I've now downloaded
v1.50, but I still haven't used it yet. So there you have it: I've
got the thing, but I still don't know how useful or how powerful it is.
SB> OCL150 has now been made available. It contains new
SB> classes, but still no documentation.
BL> Now, is this the general version, og is it the Windows,OS/2 or AIX
BL> version, or all of them in one ???
I believe it is only for OS/2. However, check it out for
yourself to make certain.
BL> Is this code free, on the same basis af the MFC code fks. ? and have
BL> anyone tryed to compile it on a Watcom (10.6) ?
I don't know a thing about the MicroSoft Foundation Classes, so
won't comment on those. For the question concerning Watcom, I
remember seeing some comments in the OCL mailing list about some
problems, and possibly a fix. Try it out, and if you have problems,
ask in the mailing list.
BL> I will also be pleased, to know were to get the library (the
BL> OCL150.ZIP file ?), on compuserve or Internet, so I have an update
BL> site.
I believe I downloaded v1.5 from hobbes.nmsu.edu/os2/dev32
However, it is also possible that I took it from the OCL site (the
URL would have been mentionened in the v1.2 package, or in a message
in the OCL mailing list.
SB> I've recently obtained Watcom C/C++ v10.0, and found that it
SB> compiles much more rapidly than EMX/GCC v0.9b. However, the OS/2
SB> toolkit is only v2.1 (or is it v2.0?), ...
BL> Can't you use the toolkit from the DevCon disks ?
Yes you can. However, at the time, I did not have the DevCon
CDs, and had to rely on the information provided by what was included
with the Watcom compiler. And this information was not the most up
to date. What made me decide for Watcom, against getting a compiler
from another company, was the possibility of developping products for
more than one platform. With most other compilers, you can compile
a product for OS/2 and DOS, Windows 3.1 and Dos, or Win95 and DOS.
Only Watcom lets you create programs for OS/2, Windows 3.1, Win95,
and Dos.
