> A really hard dry cough that left my chest muscles sore... GG> Maybe you broke a few ribs coughing? Apparently that's what all GG> my tests have shown, two ribs in a row. Bloody hell! It was just muscles in my case. You must *really* cough well (or poory, depending on how you look at it). GG> If they weren't in a row, they'd be telling me the BC spread to GG> the bones, and in fact I have some follow up tests in a few GG> months, but cancer is sneaky and very random. It wouldn't pick GG> two ribs in the same spot. So I have broken ribs. It sucks!! GG> I still have a bit of laryngitis but I think that has to do GG> with strength to speak, and I don't do a lot of talking anyway. GG> I only notice it when we have guests. It's a fiendish flu. I'm okay now, but I still cough a bit. GG> muscles repairing themselves from my recent bout of the flu GG> (first I've had since radiation). That's right... the treatment knocks the hell out fo your immune system. GG> Radiation apparently has made my rib bones very weak and GG> brittle. I didn't know that. GG> Bloody hell, I have a whole list of crappy things radiation GG> treatment does. Yet they use it to make people with bone cancer GG> feel less pain. I don't get it. Maybe they can't notice the other pain with broken ribs... > This year's flu seems to be an utter bastard. And I had the > anti-flu needle too! Has it ruined your appetite? I've been > living on bloody eggs and milkshakes. GG> Nope, I wish. You can't bottle that 'not hungry' feeling, but GG> if you could, you'd make a fortune. I lost three kilos! Another three, and I'll be able to fight as a light heavyweight. They gave me a stress-echo heart test the other day, and these new ultrasound machines are fantastic! I've had heart echo before, and it you squint you can see it *might* be a heart, and sometimes you see the valve, but this new machine is as clear as day! It's incredibly clear! The whole thing is computerised, and recorded. They take a few quick movies and then you can sit up and watch the instant replay with the doctor wghile he shows you which part of the heart is dead and the blood flow in the good part... incredible! I have absolutely no idea how they do it. They can even adjust the depth of the picture so they get the desired cross-section of the heart. Then they put you on the treadmill and show the before and after shots side-by-side. Anyway, my heart still works. It really works hard, though. It makes the rest of me look lazy.
