BL> Why didn't you use gas for the frig? DD> Gas fridges are no where near as effective in warm climates. Why not? I know they're not as efficient, but why not just use a larger evaporator? Do you actually want to freeze things? DD> Originally I was looking for a kero fridge but you cannot buy DD> those this side of Papua these days. (grin) I'll admit that the last one I saw was a Silent Knight back in the 1960's. It gets pretty hot at Singleton in the bush, but it worked, and LPG uses the same principle. DD> With a 12V fridge, my gas and kero requires for the next 10 - DD> 15 years will be minimal. A gas bottle in the back fo the car is a big deal? Or are you thinking Survivalist? Personally, I find survivalism amusing. The plan is to survive a nuclear attack or an invasion of the Purple Brain Suckers (whatever) long-term, but they all use hi-tech to make it work. Gas and kero is dead easy compared to building new gelcells or rewinding the windmill generator when the old ones die on you.
