Are you seeing errors at the Zmodem file transfer protocol level ?

If you are, likely you dont have a 16550 uart and the system handles the
lower port speed better coz it has more time to respond to an interrupt.

Thats normal if you are having interrupt latency
problems, in fact the lower port speed helps.
