Yes, I intend to put zonealarm on there.  The reason I've minimized
this sort of thing is to minimize the confusion of an 82 yr old man
(no offense to any of you who may be 'up there', but it was a big
step for my dad to start using a computer).  Very simple tasks
confuse him.  I didn't want zonealarm's popup's causing problems. 
But now the problem is bigger than zonealarms so the tradeoff will
be worth it.

Another thing to cause problems for him.  I'm not often unavailable
to take care of any problems that may arise so I've taken the path
of minimum stuff.  Basically he uses only email, occasionally going
to specific sites on the web.  He doesn't surf the net.  I am
guessing that he either opened an email attachment this last week
like the kind that are notifying you of undelivered email.  I
turned off the windows messenger long ago so he hasn't been getting
popups so Adware is not likely to be the problem with his system.
