Shame on you, as higher life forms(?) we are supposed to be above such
treatment of animals . There is another thing to consider here. Most of
he
birds that were brought in were very rare and expensive but not truely that
differant. What I mean to say if the Hyacinths had been put into a shop that
also had Scarlets they would have been too expensive for most people and
not sold. For the most part the only people that would buy them would be the
rich aviculturists in our ranks. I think you would be surprized how many of
the "STARS" of aviculture actually have some of these birds tucked away
somewhere. I always sort of found it funny that when the ban came into being
how the most of us were willing to accept the change and take up the
hallenge
of captive breeding most of the common kept birds, there were those elite
people that were upset because they could no longer get the rare birds they
wanted. They seem to think they speak for all when they insist that the
mport
ban needs to be lifted. To tell the truth is there any commonly kept bird
hat
you can no longer find. Breeding in captivity used to be economically a no
o.
Now with the lack of cheeper imports, captive breeding is really taking off
and is really becoming more common. Well to get back to the point, while it
s
a shame that smuggling is taking place, it probably a bigger shame that
eople
in our midst that know better are promoting it out of selfishness and
eed...
