Yeah, more stuff than now will probably end up in the CPU core because
designing motherboards (not to speak of the parts needed) for the insane
speeds that CPUs nowadays run at is almost impossible. You simply can't
have an on-board bus going at, say, 3 GHz. To the CPU, everything outside
it's core runs at snail's pace.
