TA>I don't do peppers any more. Too much work for small return. I do
>like to try my hand at broccolli. Most is done for fresh salads
>once a day on our table.
We have a very small garden tract... 2 sections, each about 18 inches
by 20 feet. Half of one strip holds 4 tomato plants, and the other
half holds 12 pepper plants. I have still one large freezer bag of
tomatoes that have not been boiled down for sauce...this is what
happens to all the tomatoes that we cannot eat (only 2 of us). We are
still eating sweet red peppers...I can get a whole winter out of what
we produce. The green beans are planted in the other strip of garden,
about 25 plants. All are planted at once and I freeze all that I can.
I'd like to have more, but there is always the market in the summer.
TA>My secret pride is a grape vine (three sections), from cuttings I took
>from the Ackerman homestead three blocks over; that my father enjoyed
>as a boy, I enjoyed as a boy, our children enjoyed similarily and my
>grandchildren (who make the fifth generations to live in the homestead)
>enjoy when they visit.
I have always envied people with a good growth of grape vines. Are
these eating grapes or wine making grapes?
TA>Where do you live north of the 40th ?
I live in Toronto, Ontario...about 10 minutes north of Lake Ontario.
