 Me neither.

Come to Houston and get initiated on the repeaters. Lots of
"old timers" say things they'd never dream of saying on HF.
They criticize newbies for using the repeaters for chatting
ala 11 meters and then they themselves chat the same. And
the term "monitoring" is often used by both new and old-time
licensed hams. As for myself, when I wish to let certain
buddies know I'm available I state "KC5EZQ" period, nothing
else, on both repeaters and simplex. If someone calls, then
I talk with them. Otherwise I have announced that I am
 "monitoring".

What does bug me is certain individuals who use their best Texas
drawl (and I am a native Texan too) to state they are monitoring
repeatedly ..even if they know others are using the frequency.
I attribute that to lack of know-how and keep my mouth shut.
