Well, it turns out that all is not lost...  it appears that the entire
message base was fed onto the backbone *before* the problems.

The entire batch of messages arrived in SA today (intact, and
uncorrupted). If you haven't got them already try calling another BBS
carrying the echo.

No problem...  this was also a local loss.. they to arrived in SA today
(so I guess they got out to USA too).
