  There is a quotation on freedom by John Locke I like: "Freedom of
men under government is to have a standing rule to live by, common to
every one of that society, and made by the legislative power invested
in it; a liberty to follow my own will in all things, when the rule
prescribes not, and not be subject to the inconstant, uncertain,
unknown, arbitrary will of another man." 

  I particularly like the way "inconstant, uncertain, unknown,
arbitrary" describes a bureaucray.

  Of course not! The entire 2 million bureaucrats could be replaced by
a single Cray supercomputer, and ought to be! A bureaucracy has no
function. It is self-serving and self-perpetuating, the only organism
with highly intelligent cells and zero intelligence overall.

  We should keep QANTAS and the Commonwealth Bank and privatise the 
bureaucracy by farming it out to commerce and industry.
