It requires real-mode DOS.  I personally have an old MS-DOS 5.00 floppy that I 
keep around for BIOS updates (both on the Matrox Millenium and the
motherboard).  I just have to remember to copy the files for the update onto a 
floppy before I restart with the DOS disk (since all of my HDs are HPFS).
