Okay, this one's for the real pack rats on the echo...
        I have a picture here that came across my desk this morning of a
Navy Crusader landing on the John F Kennedy.  The hook hasn't caught the
wire yet, and the wing is in it's raised position, but what caught my
eye was a round device that looks like a window fan deployed from the
starboard side of the AC.  If this is a RAT of some sort why deploy it
during what looks like a routine landing (no smoke, no fire, aircraft looks
rather new, tail number 148677, nose number 215)?
