RG>The was never any made.. this was another of John Brown's (JBEE,PARSEC) RG>projects.. he took money in advance, despite the fact there were no RG>working units.. and finally after two years the project was dropped. RG>Some money was refunded, others are still waiting.. the latest "rumour" RG>is that this zip board was to be replaced with a cartridge speedup RG>device.. as far as anyone is aware this is more of JB's hot air. Yeah well dont winge at me, I only heard a rumour that there 'used to be' one. Obviously that wasnt quite right (: A shame, that would have really kicked some butt. Imagine 14400 connects, multi-line bbs's on 64's.. the possibilities are endless... Maybe I should build one (: RG>Both the VIC and SID chips are only capable of 1mhz operation. Yeah, I know. Thats the li’ūmitation. The sid chip shouldnt be a problem, you just divide the clock signal to it down to 1 mhz , similar thing with the 6526's, but the VIC chip accesses the ram 'inbetween' the cpu clock ticks, and this would be a problem. RG>The turbomaster CPU (4mhz) overcome this limitation in a very crude but RG>effective way by actually banking the CPU's in and out ! Essentially RG>the 4mhz CPU was doing all the processing, updating screen ram etc, RG>then it passed control back to the internal CPU for the the "mundane" RG>tasks of actually outputting the data (well, thats the way I understand RG>it to work). Hmm, not much time left so I'll think about this (: Errol --- Ezycom V1.02 03fa0008* Origin: WOW BBS - Commodore Suport, Sydney's West (3:713/888) SEEN-BY: 50/99 54/54 711/807 808 809 934 712/623 713/317 700 805 888 @PATH: 713/888 54/54 711/808 809 |
