-> SP>Lan Workplace only uses a HOSTS file and our 95 WKSTs can use
-> SP>LMHOSTS. With our DOS/WIN machines I'm unable to connect to an
-> SP>Exchange server through two routers .... but am able to connect
-> SP>to our local server just fine. When I first setup a WIN/Exchange
-> SP>client I only had one router to go through and it worked .....
-> SP>so I wonder what the logistics might be besides changing to a
-> SP>WIN tcp/ip stack. 95 clients work both with both servers.
-> 'Twould seem that your LWP is improperly set up. Can you access ANYTHING
more
-> than that one router hop away? How about anything else on that subnet?
Are
-> you using matching protocols?
Here's another question to the two good ones above, I hope SP is
following the thread. Have you investigated black hole routing
possibilities? MTU size changes can cause fragmentation of packets going
through multiple routers. If an NT server doesn't have the setting to
allow fragmentation of packets one of the routers will be unavailable
and eat packets. This often happens when using FDDI or Token Ring
because of the larger packet size available with those
mediums/protocols over ethernet.
MS has a good document on this and explains the possible fixes.
