I think I already answered the original question (No, I don't think 
myself a TM guru, but I do change my "song" regularly).  Just run TMINST
from your TM directory.  You don't have to re-install, just run the 
program and move down to the alarm section and choose your new song.  
BTW, this is also where you change window colors/Etc.    
I think you might also be able to change it from Options in telemate 
(General) but I am not sure.  I know you can change the duration there 
though.
