The problem only occurs at certain times.  Symptoms show a narrowing of
line bandwidth for some obscure reason. A half duplex protocol would have
better success in handling such line conditions. However since Paul's M34F
doesn't implement half-duplex operational mode in V.34 (Amongst a lack of
other things) I'm SOL.
