| subject: | Re: Corporate variant (SUS) of Windows Update |
From: Jan van Hoek (NL) Two recent e-mail messages came to my rescue. One from eSafe and one from MicroSoft NL. ------------------------------ 1) The new eSafe version will support wildcarding in the list of trusted servers [start quote] Name: Assaf - eSafe Tech Support Subject: Yes, in FR2. Date: 2/13/2004 2:24:03 PM Actually, you would probably want to place *.microsoft.com in the trusted servers list, and yes, wildcards are supported in 4.0 FR2. [end quote] -------------------------- 2) MicroSoft NL has sent us a list of domain names to trust. windowsupdate.microsoft.com *.windowsupdate.microsoft.com download.windowsupdate.com *.download.windowsupdate.com wustat.windows.com ntservicepack.microsoft.com www.windowsupdate.com Apart from this, they announced that RSN (within a few months) just one hostname (windowsupdate) will suffice. This single name hosts everything related to patches for Windows, Office, Backoffice etcetera. -------------------------- Both e-mail's combined will get me a lot further, I think. -- -- Jan van Hoek (NL) -- Mon 16 Feb 2004 09:43 CET --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
