It's just an X server. Linux programs still run on the Linux machine but
their output is redirected to the Windows machine. Along the lines of
Telnet or SSH, but graphical.

The catch is WinAxe is $US90+ versus Cygwin's X server, which is free,
however Cygwin's X server may be harder to configure. Also, the display
redirection might be a bit slow depending on the speed of your LAN.
