BL> X11 has a bug that starts the hard drive doing something (it BL> just keeps flashing the light and whirring), but the rest of BL> Linux keeps on working until finally *everything* crashes after BL> about ten minutes! You have ten minutes to save what you can BL> and reboot, but the worst part is that this disc-search starts BL> all by itself while you're not looking! Fuck'n hell! It also BL> has a video problem where it starts not-painting the screen, BL> but I haven't been able to find out what sets that one off. AC> Sounds like buggy hardware/drivers to me. They alwatys say that. I heard it first on DOS4, then OS/2... now Linux. Oddly, Windows has never had trouble with hardware/drivers/bios on the same machines. I might even believe it, except that Linux has done it on three separate machines, now. I don't know if it's X, btw... just that it does it with both the KDE and Gnome GUI... maybe it's them.
