I'm not certain to what MCI refers. In any case, the VDD has
nothing to do with the DOS code, and the DOS code doesn't interact with
anything, really, except that it needs the synchronization cue to start its
timed process. The other author suggested Named Pipes, of course, which
leads us to where we are now. You had some other ideas.
