ALM> Not that I want to get involved in the modem wars,

RS> Wot a wimp.

Probably.

ALM> I changed mine the other day from 19200 to 32400.
ALM> Over several days the transfer rate was down by approx
ALM> 300cps, so I've put it back to 19200 and it's fine again.

RS> Are you seeing errors at the Zmodem file transfer protocol level ?

No

RS> If you are, likely you dont have a 16550 uart and the system handles the
RS> lower port speed better coz it has more time to respond to an interrupt.

It's a PCMCIA modem, I have no idea how they interface to the system.

RS> Thats normal if you are having interrupt latency
RS> problems, in fact the lower port speed helps.

Yair, but this is a fairly new pentium machine. I'm booting it to a
seperate dos config for frontdoor so there's nothing else going on. It
should go like stink.
