they fought up against the north koreans, going back up against the north
koreans + the chinese was a whole different ball game. the whole thing sort
of dragged on and was becoming expensive. from memory, the negotiations
leading to the armistice lasted quite a long time, so the communists didn't
seem particularly pressured.
