Hi, James! Recently you wrote in a message to Ardith Hinton:

JB> couple of notches, and a Palates exercise ball, (but
JB> flat like a pancake) acting as an air cushion, I can't

AH> Hey, whatever works.... :-)

JB> Mostly, it worked across Sask. So no complaints except
JB> from mom. /-:

She wanted a cushion too? I must say, it does sound good.... ;-)

AH> I'm just wondering whether a series of shorter trips
AH> might accomplish the same goals, with less exhaustion
AH> afterwards.... :-)

JB> Whatever!

Okay... maybe it wouldn't. Just an idea.... :-)

JB> i went to a friends for some R+R, and found myself on
JB> the end of a shovel/rake/wiremen's pliers...

         I see. A busman's holiday, eh?? :-)

JB> You get too familiar with the 'wedded bliss' and I need
JB> to reconfirm my bachelor status.

A "Honeydew" list and/or a chance to talk to you alone,
maybe.... :-)

JB> I guarantee I've looked better than when I drag my
JB> carcass to the hospital canteen, but hell, I'd keep
JB> walking if I knew there was a car waiting for me.

Uh-huh. There are times when I just want somebody to take care of
me. In general, however, I can't get out of the place fast enough.... :-)

AH> Thankyou. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery....

JB> Payment in kind.

Or, what goes around comes around.... :-)

AH> Dallas & I take reasonable precautions, but we don't
AH> put our lives (or Nora's) on hold

JB> How can you. I mentioned I was in Van. during 9-11?
JB> The survivalist went home to fill his bathtub, and I
JB> needed to buy some blue-jeans. Who won the wise-guy
JB> award, I can't tell you, but I'll bet had more humour
JB> through it than Mr. Scaredy-Pants.

I'll bet you did too! IIRC it was a school day, and we went about
our business as usual. We were shocked, of course... who wouldn't be??
But I find this person's reaction amusing in a pathetic sort of way. I
don't know of many people in the city who can afford to do without the
bathtub for very long. And it seems a major component of terrorism is that
the victims can't be sure when, where, or how it will strike next. When
folks like the survivalist panic, they are playing right into the hands of
the terrorists.

I was impressed by the Queen's response to the bombings in
London... a city which has been bombed more often than I can count within
her own lifetime. If the terrorists have something to say there, they'll
need to find better ways to communicate. I gather the IRA have finally got
the picture, anyhow.... :-/

JB> The world is alright, but we have to make it that way.

Agreed. Sounds to me like a good tagline too.... :-)
