From: "Frank Haber" Dell makes a point of supporting WinUpdate for XP Home and pro on their Desktops and Workstations. How else are you going to handle updates, when your support consists of... Q. "Help, a fly landed on my monitor!" A. "Take two restore CDs and nuke your Windows install, and go back on hold in the morning." They do ask that you get your drivers from them, but that's really the only way to fly for stability - they use OEM versions of video and sound cards. I haven't asked about their bottom-feeder servers (400, 650 - tower cases), but I'll find out soon. A couple of clients have cheaped out and are going the Mandrake route for file servers. The cases sure don't inspire confidence - a bit Reynolds-Wrap-ish. They've stopped maliciously miswiring the main power plug to the motherboard, at least. --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
