And as exemplified by the Enron affair.  Not only did they not know how
deep the well was, no one even knew WHERE the well was.  They just kept
pumping it until it ran dry.

That, to me, was one strange business.  A bunch of lawyers and accountants
started it up as an 'energy broker', basically a 'middleman' company.  All
they did was buy up 'energy', skim off the top, and resell it to someone
else at a higher price.  

In a real sense, our own pockets were part of that 'well', as many of us
were end-users of that energy.  When it was bought up in the hugh bulk
quantities as they did, there was less available on the free market, and
all our prices went up.   :-((
