       I've given up on the network for a while (it's a cruel world),
but another essential step in my master plan is recompiling the kernel
to take the WinModem driver...

 I thought I'd try crawling before I broke into a trot, so I just
added APM to my existing kernel. APM is advanced power management.

 I love these bloody stupid acronyms. Surely someone could have
thought of something simple and catchy instead of a mouthful they
reduce to three meaningless letters... auto-off, or something. Sigh.
What else can you expect of uniwankers?

 But to return to the plot...

 I followed the instructions carefully, loaded 110Mb of source code
(bloody hell!), and like a miracle I came out the other end with my
very own kernel. Kentucky Fried, eat your heart out.

 Then right at the end of the section, I read: "You should make sure
unused modules are removed from /wank/morewank/wankon/.
Otherwise, unexpected results could occur! This is one reason why the
inexperienced user is *strongly* advised not to compile the kernel
himself."

 ROFL! This is after I've just compiled the kernel, loaded it, and 
reconfigured LILO  following implicit instructions telling me how easy
it is (and was)!!

 Bloody hell! ROFL!!!

 Of course, their intention is to leave the poor bastard reading that
completely at a loss, and terrified to reboot in case *anything*
might happen.

 Fucking wankers!

 I might be inexperienced with Linux, but I am *very* experienced in
dealing with UUFs (universal uniwanker fuckwits).

 Now all I have to do is discover what this other set of UUFs have
done to stuff up the Winmodem driver...
