Yeah, I remembered DIR /B about three seconds after I wrote my last
message. It's adequate, but I'm getting peculiar differences in spacing,
depending on whether the output comes from Win9x or NTx, and whether the
files are on an ISO vs. a FAT/NTFS volume.  More later, if I remember.

I can trim the trailing blanks, which also differ - no problem.

Oh, and tip - don't try to use an old DOS editor that adds ^Zs for this -
very bad for the digestion (g).
