PE> I went and bought another 32-meg, for a cost PE> of $360 today. Decided to let my hair down! PE> I now have a 20-meg HPFS386 disk cache and PE> a 14 meg FAT cache and 2 meg CDROM cache. You did indeed. I think you should be publicly whipped for conspicuous consumption of the very worst kind. Have you no sense of common decency and decorum whatever ? You didnt say exactly what you bought SIMM type wise. Currently I am still getting all the new hardware together and chose to minimise the ram purchase, incase it was gunna drop some more still. Hard to imagine that it can drop much more tho, OTOH that may not be so true of say 32MB 72pin 60ns EDO SIMMs. Many modern motherboards aint exactly stuffed with SIMM slots, 4 is typical. PE> I asked him about the HD prices, and he said that when I got it for $445 PE> he thinks it was a promotion that was on. Now $480 I think he said. Figures, which may mean that the TechSearch $440 is temporary till they get those they got in that lot sold. PE> After I put the new RAM in (here we go again) OS/2 started to print PE> all the graphics text really stupid, like instead of saying "Shutdown" PE> it might say "Shuudonn". Very annoying. Fortunately most of what I PE> use is text windows. I found that by enabling 640*480*65536 instead PE> of 640*480*256 I got around most of that. I also enabled 32-bit disk PE> access, shadow ram, PCI something-or-other and anything else I could PE> find in the BIOS that indicated "scream like mad". PE> Jeeze OS/2 is a heap of shit. The world is a very annoying place. True, bullet proof it aint. @EOT: ---* Origin: afswlw rjfilepwq (3:711/934.2) SEEN-BY: 711/934 712/610 @PATH: 711/934 |
