I appreciate your courtesy, but I notice that in spite of your politeness you none the less keep brushing off most of the things I say as if they did not pertain to you. I think you are either missing, or choosing to ignore, something important, which is that Christianity, by its very nature, is either true for everyone or else it can't be true at all. To claim that it is merely my private belief system but that it does not apply to you is illogical, given the nature of what Christians believe. For example, Christians believe that Jesus will intercede for us so that we can be accepted into heaven. In order to do that, he must be objectively and eternally real. If Jesus exists only as a subjective idea in the minds of those who believe, then our faith in him will die when we do and he won't be there to help us after that. If that is the case, he can't save us and the Christian worldview is false. As another example, Christians believe that Jesus will return visibly to earth in power and glory (and Jesus himself did say that, as recorded in the 24th chapter of the gospel of Matthew and in other passages in the New Testament.) If that is true, he will be visible to everyone, including non-Christians, when he returns. If that isn't true, then he will never be able to overcome all of the evil that presently exists on earth. If he can't overcome all evil, he can't save us and the Christian worldview is false. So you can reject Christianity as false, or you can accept it as true, but if you understand it and think logically about it, you will see that it is contradictory to claim that it is true for me and not for you. __________ Download the entire Bible via anonymous FTP at ftp://ftp.fni.com/bettyjo/Bible Copyright information on the material above at ftp://ftp.fni.com/bettyjo http://user.mc.net/~bettyjo mailto:bettyjo{at}mc.net --- þ RIMEGate(tm)/RGXPost V1.14 at BBSWORLD * Info{at}bbsworld.com --- * RIMEGate(tm)V10.2áÿ* RelayNet(tm) NNTP Gateway * MoonDog BBS * RgateImp.MoonDog.BBS at 1/10/05 8:09:34 PM* Origin: MoonDog BBS þ Brooklyn,NY 718 692-2498 (1:278/230) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 278/230 10/345 106/1 2000 633/267 |
