As many of you may already know, OS/2 Magazine will stop publishing after
the January issue. Many of you have submitted articles for publication,
and some of
those have been placed in the remaining few issues. If your article hasn't yet
run and you haven't heard from our Managing Editor, Theresa Mori
(tmori{at}mfi.com), it probably didn't make the cut. You are free to submit
your article to another publication. If you aren't sure, please call
Theresa at (415) 905-2431 to determine the status of your article.

Thanks you for your interest in OS/2 Magazine. I hope that you will continue to
write on topics of interest to OS/2 application developers.

                   OS/2 MAGAZINE CEASES PUBLICATION

The following is an announcement from Katie Brennan, Group Publisher of
OS/2 Magazine and of Miller Freeman's Advanced Operating Environments
publishing group:

"Thank you for your support in helping to create a well-respected
publication for the OS/2 market, OS/2 Magazine. It is important that you
be among the first to hear officially of our decision to cease publication
of OS/2 Magazine. We plan to continue publishing OS/2 Magazine through the
January 1997 issue.

"Though our editorial product continues to be in demand, a large
number of vendors in the advertising community have abandoned or decreased
support for their OS/2 products. As you know, the cost of continuing a
magazine with low advertising support is prohibitive, but reader demand
cannot be ignored. Our challenge is deciding how to satisfy reader needs
and balance that with a product that can be self-supporting. We hope that
you will understand the business decision behind OS/2 Magazine's closure.

"OS/2 Magazine's PAID subscribers will be transferred to Miller
Freeman's LAN Magazine, effective with either the February or March issues
(the timing is still being worked out). If you are already a LAN Magazine
subscriber, your subscription will be extended by the number of issues
remaining on your OS/2 Magazine subscription.

"OS/2 Magazine's NON-PAID subscribers will receive a special OS/2
demographic edition of Miller Freeman's Software Development Magazine, which
will be published five times in 1997 (March, May, July,September, and
December). This special edition will be geared towards corporate
developers currently using or planning to use OS/2.

"On behalf of the entire staff of OS/2 Magazine, thank you for your
support over the past three years. We look forward to continuing to serve
you, either through LAN Magazine or through Software Development Magazine's
new OS/2 demographic edition."
