BL> Stuffups with Linux/Samba never seem to end, but this time I BL> suppose it's Win98 doing it. With two Win98 machines, there is BL> no problem. JB> I can't say... possibly it's a problem with captialisation. Tried that... JB>> dunno what a "mime link" is see if there's a spot where you JB>> can put uid=bob The *only* place to do that, is when you mount the drive. JB> Ah, that sounds like what the unix world calls an inode. The JB> directory has the filename and points to the inode. the inode JB> holds all the rest of the information about the file (including JB> all the disk sectors used, or a pointer to another inode if JB> there's not room to list them all. That's it. I can't be bothered learning Linux names for standard functions. I can see why it's so popular. It goes back to the 80's when everything was made as difficult as possible. At present, I'm trying to work out a way to print "man" entries in the man format. The actual file doesn't seem to be any known format, but it works really well on screen. I suspect that a uniwanker invented his own format... (for no good reason).
