Gordon, thank you very much for posting this (but the end got cut off--I
think the post was too long for Fido to swallow!)
GG>This is a compilation of the latest news on the federal case against
GG>Tony Silva.
GG>>
GG>>Silva faces a maximum term of imprisonment of five and three years on
GG>the conspiracy and tax charges, respectively, and a maximum fine of
GG>$250,000 on each count, or, alternatively, a fine totaling not
GG>>more than twice the defendant's gross gain, or twice the gross
GG>>loss to any victim, whichever is greater.
GG>>Silva is the author of several books on the subject of birds
GG>including "A>Monograph of Endangered Parrots," published in 1989, in
GG>which he described>the hyacinth macaw as "being worth its weight in
GG>gold." He also has>written numerous articles including a 1991 piece
GG>in American Cage-Bird>Magazine, entitled "The Hyacinth Macaw: Its
GG>Status and Captive Breeding,">in which he wrote: "Unless all of the
GG>pressures (including illegal trade)>ae brought under control, this
GG>species may be unable to survive in the>world to greet the 21st
GG>century."
In my personal opinion, I think Tony Silva needs to be put in a
6" wide PVC tube and shipped across the ocean in the hold of a slow,
dirty cargo ship. No, on second thought, that's too good for him...
I'm just glad I never bought any of his books, and put money into his
coffers. The man is a scumbag of the worst order, IMHO.
