-=> Audrey explained to Marilyn, regarding cuttings???, on 11-11-97 19:02:
AL> While I don't know too much about cuttings, other than what I've done,
AL> I can say that I observed you to say that every time you set them to
AL> grow on their own, you're either pulling them up to look at the roots
AL> or running to water them.
AL> Let them grow, dear... Give them time to adjust & make it on their
AL> own.
I guess this was basically my first try at cuttings and it's hard
to believe they could actually be sitting there making roots!
But now most of them have started growing. The impatiens I
started have a few blooms on them. I can't believe I never tried
it before. Well I guess I did try a couple of times and always
watered them to death and rotted any roots that did form.
AL> I usually start a plant by taking a cutting & putting it in a jar of
AL> distilled water for a week or two. The cuttings will grow their own
AL> root system, trying to become hydroponic. Only then will I take the
AL> cutting out, dip it in Rotonone, plant it in potting soil with a ew
AL> stones on the bottom for drainage, and water it once every 3-4 days.
AL>
Thanks for the advice, I need all the help I can get on cuttings!
But now that I've had some success I guess I'll try some more and
see what happens.
Marilyn
