I went and bought another 32-meg, for a cost of $360 today.
Decided to let my hair down! I now have a 20-meg HPFS386
disk cache and a 14 meg FAT cache and 2 meg CDROM cache.
I asked him about the HD prices, and he said that when I got
it for $445 he thinks it was a promotion that was on. Now
$480 I think he said.
After I put the new RAM in (here we go again) OS/2 started to
print all the graphics text really stupid, like instead of
saying "Shutdown" it might say "Shuudonn". Very annoying.
Fortunately most of what I use is text windows. I found that
by enabling 640*480*65536 instead of 640*480*256 I got around
most of that. I also enabled 32-bit disk access, shadow ram,
PCI something-or-other and anything else I could find in the
BIOS that indicated "scream like mad".
Jeeze OS/2 is a heap of shit. The world is a very annoying
place.
BFN. Paul.
