I have been to a village in Korea that had at it's edge a huge stone
fertility symbol about seven feet high.  Some females of the village
had faith that if they preformed a certain ceremony near that large
male symbol they would as a results greatly increase their chances of
becoming pregnant.

That faith was based on something, but I am not sure "knowledge" is the
best word to use.  So I think some people use the word "always" in
circumstances where I would choose to use a less restrictive term.
