I was simply stating that even though signal levels should remain constant
throughout its entire length, it is still possible that this may not always
be the case.  I also quite specifically stated that you can more or less
take it as read that they do just that.

No need to put words into my mouth just because you misunderstood what I
was saying about FO.  Of course the potential problems are mainly
theoretical, but it's also important to know that they CAN still occur.
